About Me

Singapore, a big island full of food. Well, big in my perspective.

First of all, welcome to www.j2k3blogs.com. I am Justin Daniel Pereira, webmaster, photojournalist, blogger and food critque of this website. Basically, a Bao Ka Liao person. My interest has always been in food and the origins of this website alone started in 2003 when I was 13 on the free Yahoo webservice, Geocities.

I started with a combination of recipes and cooking tips and over the years the website has undergone major revamps and changes. In 2007, I decided to take a new perspective with my website and changed its objectives to providing food reviews. I felt that as Singaporean cuisine has become more diverse, it was a great time to pick out the best from the masses and especially those with the value for money. The old archive which is http://j2k3.blogspot.com is part of that history and now in 2009, it was time to streamline the resources provided again while not changing the directive. Therefore, what you see now in the website, www.j2k3blogs.com, is the recreation and revitalisation of a very old institution.

(Well if you consider 7 years as a long time, it is old.)
Well, this passion for food is naturally honed by my family. My grandma, dad, mum all cooks and a majority of my family on either side either cooks or bakes. So yeah, I kinda got influenced. You can look at the photos below on how that passion has nurtured me.

Honestly, I feel like I am writing a speech here. Must be something to do with those teachings in the junior colleges!

Still, I am only a former student and now I am serving my nation so my budget is a little wee bit tight. So, don’t go expecting food reviews from those high end places around Singapore. What I aim is to showcase the best and maybe the occasional “those who could do better according to past experiences” category.

Currently, I am using a DSLR : Canon EOS 1000D. Very excited as I pursue my dedication to food photography =)

But of course my Fujifilm digital point and shoot camera: Finepix Z10FD is not out of commission. It is still my good companion when I really feel like only bringing something small and light around. After all, it has been with me for over 150 articles in this blog. Quite a mean feat! I just hope the two cameras won’t start fighting with each other. No favouritism please.

I would love to hear from you if you have ideas on where I could explore for my next food adventure. Or if you have any thoughts or food stories to share, please feel free to email me! It would be exciting as this blog moves on to the next level of food reviews and creativity.

So till then! Ciao =)

    Hi Justin

I’m impressed. Your food blog is very informative. Your photography too is very professional. Keep up the good work. I shall make it a point to check your blog before deciding where to head for a good meal in future.
Btw, I’m your dad’s cousin, which makes us second cousins. Your dad would know me as Joan. (your grandfather Joe and my mum were siblings)

    Regards.

    Nice site, Justin.

Just curiously…on your blogroll, you seem to list the taglines next to the blog names. But you wrote “I drool over the pictures” next to my blog name, and attributed my original tagline “Every Meal An Adventure” to Amasou Umasou. Why is that?

    Thanks!

    • Thanks Camemberu.

When I added your link to my blogroll ages ago, I didn’t know much about taglines. So only recently as I updated the list, I added the taglines which I spotted. Apparently, I typed the tagline wrongly. Oops O.O
Will go update it to “Every Meal An Adventure”! And yeah, I love your food photography =) It makes me hungry.

See ya at future tasting sessions!
